Yayers! We went to Venice (only for like 30 hours though...) |
The first weekend two other girls and I went on a quick trip to Venice. It was mostly enjoyable, but I would have liked to stay longer. I think the reason I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could have because I need to start speaking up when I want something. There were things I didn’t do that I wanted to because one of the girls was just headstrong . . . . I just pretty much didn't voice an opinion. I don’t think she was being that way on purpose, I think she just doesn’t realize how condescending she was being, but it’s whatever. Venice is beautiful and I had more enjoyable moments than annoyed ones.
We stayed in a cute little hostel. I thought it was cool that there were steps leading to the toilet in the bathroom. I joked (in my travel journal) that it was the royal poop throne. I love the buildings in Venice and it both excites and worries me that there is so much water so close to everything. I honestly did not really want to go on a gondola ride because I didn’t really care. I thought it would be boring (it was not exciting) and kind of a waste of money (it was eighty euro), but they wanted to go, so I didn’t want to be the one person to say no. We split the cost so it was about 27 each, but I still think that’s a lot because we already paid to go on a boat to get to area, why get on a little, expensive one that we might fall out of and I would possibly die, but it was enjoyable. Venice is very picturesque, so I took a ton of photos.
There were lots of tourists there, so there were lots of little stands with cool souvenirs that I really wish I bought. We walked through a park and went out to eat twice and pretty much left first thing in the morning. I would have liked to shop and go to a few of the museums, but it’s okay. Someday I will go back.
